Ideal Body Weight Calculator

Estimate your target weight based on clinical Devine formulas.

How is Ideal Weight Calculated?

This tool utilizes the classic clinical Devine Formula, developed in 1974. The standard equation calculates the base benchmark weight for someone five feet tall and adds a multiplier for each additional inch:

  • Men: $50.0 \text{ kg} + 2.3 \text{ kg}$ per inch over 5 feet
  • Women: $45.5 \text{ kg} + 2.3 \text{ kg}$ per inch over 5 feet

Limits of Ideal Weight Formulas

Ideal weight equations were created for medical dosing guidelines and do not distinguish between fat mass and muscle mass. If you carry significant skeletal muscle tissue (from consistent training), your actual weight may safely exceed the formula's calculation.
